Datamined Destiny 2 files namedrop Marathon pre-orders, spurring speculation that Bungie’s FPS reboot could rear its head soon

Datamined Destiny 2 files seemingly hint that pre-orders for Marathon, Bungie’s next shooter, are coming sooner than you might expect.Bungie announced that it was rebooting Marathon, the ’90s series that predates even Halo, last summer, and it’s been very tight-lipped about the extraction shooter ever since aside from a secret trailer that confirmed we wouldn’t hear anything else for a really long time. Prophecy fulfilled, I guess. But Destiny 2’s new update reportedly features clues about what to expect next. Dataminers began digging through Destiny 2’s innards recently for hints about what’s coming up in the evergreen looter shooter – though what they instead found was what’s next for the studio. The Game Post reports that a text string called ‘v820.offers.entitlement.d2.marathon.preorder’ was datamined, obviously spurring speculation. Bungie apparently names all Destiny 2 updates with version numbers. For example, The Final Shape’s files are numbered v800, while the ongoing Epis…

Sometimes the gold leaf-inlaid memories of gaming childhood should be left alone. Do you, like us, have nostalgia about renting Shaq Fu and Clayfighter on SNES from Blockbuster? Here are 10 classic games you should give another look on mobile. The Mobile Gaming Show is set to reveal the latest and great in mobile gaming. For more recommendations of what to play while on the go, check out our Mobile Gaming Week. 10. Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition  Back in the 90s isometric titles were the kings of RPG land. Dying Light: The Beast wants to be “the ultimate zombie adventure”, and it only exists because Techland’s DLC plans leaked

My hands-off Gamescom preview of Dying Light: The Beast has me grinning from start to finish. As Kyle Crane – the series’ first hero, now freed following thirteen years of torment – makes his way through the overgrown expanse of Castor Valley in the thrilling dead of night, it feels like coming home. But The Beast is not the game anyone expected developer Techland to make next – least of all, I learn when I sit down with its key production leads, Techland itself. “It started as a DLC for Dying Light 2, but we experienced a leak of the story last year,” explains franchise director Tymon Smektała. As a result, it was a “no-brainer” for Techland to make the upcoming game totally free for all Dying Light 2 deluxe edition owners. “The community was very eager to learn everything about Dying Light, and they managed to dig out some very juicy and very crucial details about the narrative. So this made us think, ‘Okay, what can we do with this?'” Following a wee…

“Thank you team, we made something awesome” – Concord developers mourn the failed FPS that PlayStation pulled the plug on after just 14 days

And just like that, Concord servers are now offline. PlayStation pulled the plug on its struggling hero shooter just two weeks after it stepped out into the brutal live service arena, while Firewalk Studios works out “the best path ahead.” Buyers have been refunded, but developers who worked on the game are now saying their (maybe temporary) goodbyes.Concord animator David Reyes posted a picture of the game’s now ultra-rare Platinum Trophy – the one that had players desperately jumping off cliffs – that only 0.2% of players ever nabbed. “This platinum is very special to me… Thank you team, we made something awesome.”This platinum is very special to me🥹 @FirewalkStudios @PlayConcord Thank you team, we made something awesome🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/c9hWgwrV22September 6, 2024″I cannot thank this community enough for the amount of love and support they’ve poured into us,” community development lead Bethany Hulse tweeted. “Thank you for being here, and for being a part …

Ark 2: Everything we know so far

Four years after its reveal, we still don’t have a confirmed Ark 2 release date although developer Studio Wildcard maintains that the survival game is still set to launch in “late 2024.” With only a few months left of the year we’re desperately seeking more clarity there, but thankfully there’s still plenty of info out there for you to learn about Ark 2. As the sequel to one of the best survival games, Ark 2 is set to expand massively on the foundations of its predecessor. We know that Vin Diesel is on board as an executive producer and set to play a leading role in the Ark 2 story (the Fast & Furious actor is reportedly a big fan of Ark: Survival Evolved), and that Studio Wildcard is making big changes to core elements of play – including the addition of “Souls-like melee combat”, with Wildcard CEO Doug Kennedy going so far as to say that Ark 2 will do “something which has never been done” in video games before. It’s exciting times, which is why Ark 2 remains one of our …
